    Mount Olive Baptist Church

Mount Olive shares the street named after one of its noted pastors - Reverend Richard Battles. He is remembered as a pioneer on the Hartford Board of Education. However, through him, Mount Olive is connected to one of the nation's greatest leaders for social and economic justice and political democracy at home and abroad - Reverend Martin Luther King. Reverend Battles traveled with Reverend King when I received the Nobel Peace Prize in Norway in 1964. Mrs. Rosa Parks also visited Mount Olive Baptist Church.
