    United House of Prayer

(Church denomination organized by Cape Verdian Charles da Gracia also known as ‘Daddy Grace’)
    Albany Avenue

In 1919 with thirty-nine dollars the charismatic Cape Verdian Marcelino Manuel de Graca more popularly known as “Daddy Grace” founded “The United House of Prayer for All People of the Church on the Rock of the Apostolic Faith.”  Known for his flamboyant style of dress, long hair, and bright colored suits, Daddy Grace was also a financial guru and real estate tycoon.  He purchased property all over the United States.  Since then, the United House of Prayer has grown to have an estimated membership of 1.5 million, with over a hundred churches throughout the United States of America.  The United House of Prayer on Albany Avenue is a product of “Daddy Grace’s” financial and real estate acumen.
